A design partner for the long haul

Trusted by these agencies and product companies:

The problem with how most teams get design

Hiring a senior product designer full-time is a heavy bet — salary, equity, recruitment, and bench time you pay for whether the work is there or not. But the alternative is worse: product decisions made by people who aren't designers, or design bolted on at the end by whoever's free. For complex, regulated software, or products in high-stakes environments, that's where expensive mistakes get made.

What I offer instead

I work as an embedded design partner on a monthly retainer. You get ongoing senior design capacity that moves with your product, and a designer who knows your system deeply and is there every month to push it forward. All at a fraction of the cost and commitment of a full-time hire, with none of the recruitment, equity, or overhead.

The longer we work together, the more valuable it gets. I compound my understanding of your product, your users, and your constraints month over month so you're not re-briefing a new freelancer every time, you're building with someone who already knows the terrain.

Why teams in regulated, high-stakes software work with me

I specialize in fintech, operational software, AI products, compliance tech, and security systems. I'm a former finance professional with an MA in UX Design and HCI. I understand regulated environments where mistakes are expensive, and I work directly with your developers, from discovery through to shipped UI, as part of the team, not an outside vendor.

How a retainer works

It's a fixed monthly engagement covering an agreed block of senior design capacity. It comes with predictable cost, predictable availability, and a partner invested in the long arc of your product. We scope what matters each month and I deliver. You don't have to deal with bench time, overhead, or a full-time commitment. I'm also flexible if you need more or less time in a given month. The retainer holds the relationship steady so design is always close when you need it.

Prefer to start smaller? Many teams begin with a single project. They'll do a focused sprint to land something specific and move to a retainer once they see the value of keeping design close. Read more about short-term design support.
